We’ve had a fabulous week! Great events and recognitions! This has been a week about #BroncoPride!
Last Friday 11.07 SLMS hosted our Latin Fiesta. Ms Rivera, organized and threw this spectacular event. Our capacity filled cafeteria was a lively scene of music, cultural display, culinary explorations and [most importantly] smiling faces from our parents and students!
This was a great event! We had a fantastic turnout, showing tremendous support from our community! Thanks to everyone who helped out this night with the organization and a great shout out to Ms Rivera for her vision, drive and success! Kudos on a job well done!
[For your enjoyment]
Thursday night, 11.13, we held our Fall Athletic Banquet. Again, we had a packed house. Our events really show the love our community as for The Broncos! This night we recognized the hard work and successes of our fall sports programs. This night we featured students and showcased some of our student athletes! Accolades for this go to Ms Canteen, Ms Brown and everyone else who played a role in organizing and setting up this event.
The highlight of the evening was recognizing the incredible 18 years of service from our local legend, Coach Leonard Bellamy. Bellamy has been a rock and incredible asset to SLMS in many ways – teacher, classroom support, coach and student/teacher advocate. Bellamy has helped me tremendously during my time here at SLMS. His leadership, support and example are inspirations to us all. Thanks Coach!
Here is a link to the Prezi that showcased that night! Take a look at all the love shown to Coach Bellamy! – http://prezi.com/hi9midzm981y/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy&rc=ex0share
Thanks to Ms McLaurin and Ms Boles for organizing a GREAT Awards Day for the 1st Nine Weeks. Our assembly ran smoothly and was attended by lots of parents. Our speaker had a great message for our students, staff and family members! Everyone drew something from this event.
Again, thanks Ms McLaurin and Ms Boles and everyone who played a part in this.
This video is of a project from an inclusion class. Check out the engagement, demonstrated level of understanding, planning and production these kids demonstrated. Phenomenal!
I wanted to use this video to help demonstrate using green screen in the classroom as part of making movies! Using it as a backdrop allows you to change backgrounds and enhance the videos! This is a great inclusion lesson.

Google Class is a relatively new learning management system. Its a way to post, grade and design lessons with all the benefits of Google Drive/Gmail – a one-stop shop. Consider it a next and better step after Edmodo! We will explore later!
We are beyond the first six weeks but good strategies are good strategies!
Thanks for all you do to improve that #BroncoPride!
